Mark out your plot and scrape off the top layer of soil to between 50mm and
100mm deep. Make sure the ground is level and cover the plot with a weed
peventing membrane.
Cut cross slits through the membrane in one corner and dig a hole deep
enough to hold a small reservoir in which to sit the monolith. Reservoirs can
be bought from most garden centres and you'll need a pump as well to
re-circulate the water. Don’t forget you’ll need an external electricity supply
for the pump and this will need to be supplied and fitted by a qualified
electrician.

Set out the blue smooth brick edging, (available from Hanson stockists) on
a mortar bed all around the perimeter to define the extent of your garden.
Next place the preliminary slate rockery edging to form the path leading
your eye to the water feature in the corner.
Place the various plants in position by cutting crossed slits in the weed
prevention membrane, digging them in and watering well.
Generously spread the different coloured slate chippings to fill in any gaps.
You can ether mix up the various colours of slate chippings or use just one
colour, whichever you prefer.
Finally set the rest of the slate rockery and paddlestones into the slate
chippings and arrange to suit.
